Description
Hominy or White Corn has been an Indigenous staple food for thousands of years. Originating with Indigenous nations in South America, it has been traded over the years and miles all the way north of the Great Lakes. Some fields have been planted from seeds as old as 1400 years!
This is your key ingredient for traditional Hodinöhsö:ni’ Corn Soup – one of the Three Sisters -and many other traditional meals.
Hominy is dried and nixtamalized – which removes the hard outer husk & germ, and enhances the flavour (from the Indigenous language of Mexico, Náhuatl: nextli, meaning ashes, and tamale, meaning corn dough).
Each package is one quart (946 gm).
